Student Training (HIB / Belonging / Words Have Power)

Last week, students participated in a Principal-led training on Harassment-Intimidation-Bullying (HIB). District policy, reporting and investigation procedures for HIB were reviewed. However, we spent most of our time together focusing on what our culture is "for" -- being kind with each other so support a "culture of BELONGING through DIGNITY." Here's a glimpse of some of what was shared with your student:
  • Based on last year's survey of CKMS students, only 39% of students responded that they were "...respected by other students at this school..." Each period, students agreed that to 100% of students "feeling respected by others!!" Great teamwork, Cubs!

  • Refresh "Words Have Power" campaign (implemented 24-25 SY)

LIBRARY Update

We are meeting all CKMS Cubs through ELA class visits to the library. ELA classes visit the library every two weeks where students have a library lesson (book talks, digital citizenship, internet safety, research skills) and book check-out time. The library is the “go-to” place for students with questions/concerns about chromebooks.

COUNSELING Update

CKMS’s Anchored4Life Program is beginning in October! The program has three groups
  1. Cub Guides who help new students
  2. Cub Crew who do presentations for 6th graders
  3. Cub Cares who promote our monthly themes throughout the school year.
Kind, friendly students who’d like to help make CKMS a welcoming, amazing place are encouraged to apply this week.
  • Applications are in the Counseling Office
  • Applications are due back to the Counseling Office on September 22nd
  • All club meetings and activities are during the school day, so no rides needed!
  • Students do not have to be part of the military to join.
If families or students have questions, they can reach out to Mrs. Collins at morganc@ckschools.org :)
