This is my FAVORITE time of the school year -- welcoming students back to school for a fresh start and for "leveling-up" learning and growth!
One of our district goals is to ensure safe and welcoming learning environments. I’ve asked our staff to start the year by clearly communicating the high standards, high expectations, and high accountability we have for all students. You can support this work by talking with your child about your own expectations for their behavior at school and the importance of treating others with dignity and respect.
When you speak with your child, please share our updated mobile device, school-wide policy for the 2025-26 SY >>
- Mobile phones/devices are to be "off/silent & away" upon arrival at campus and throughout the day, including during lunch.
- Students may use their Chromebooks in the Library to complete work on class assignments or projects.
This update is aligned with the latest research on the developing teen brain and the use/over-use of mobile devices, based on our team's book study of "The Anxious Generation."
- This week, our Assistant Principals provided training to high school and middle school staff on this topic.
- You can learn more about this work by reviewing the Anxious Generation For Parents information sheet, which includes resources for parents.
We've learned the importance of teens practicing social/communication skills and problem-solving skills through play-activities during their lunch period. We've even practiced it ourselves! The image below reflects our own dedication to this work.
Together, we can build on the progress we’ve made and ensure our school is a place where every student feels safe and supported. Thank you for being a valued partner in our school community!
Warmest regards,
Thomasina Rogers - Principal
